Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj (1922–2013) was a divine spiritual master, revered as the fifth original Jagadguru (Supreme Spiritual Master) in the history of India. He was honored with this rare title by the Kashi Vidvat Parishat in 1957, a prestigious body of scholars in Varanasi, who recognized his unparalleled mastery over the scriptures—Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Bhagavatam. Unlike the previous four Jagadgurus who were primarily known for their intellectual contributions, Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj was celebrated for both his philosophical depth and his unique ability to awaken divine love in the hearts of seekers.
Kripalu Ji Maharaj's teachings were centered on Bhakti Yoga—the path of divine love and devotion—as the most accessible and complete means of attaining God-realization in this age. His discourses were rich with scriptural citations yet simple enough for the common man to understand. Through his radiant presence and soul-stirring kirtans (devotional songs), he touched the hearts of millions across the globe, transcending boundaries of language, culture, and religion.
He founded several charitable and spiritual institutions, most notably Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat (JKP), which continues his legacy through philanthropic activities, hospitals, schools, and spiritual centers. Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj’s life was an extraordinary synthesis of divine knowledge, selfless service, and unending compassion. His contributions continue to inspire spiritual seekers to this day, guiding them toward the ultimate goal of human life—prem bhakti, or pure love for God. READ MORE
